Hi %FIRSTNAME%,
Designing a Life That Doesn’t Require a Holiday to Escape From
Ever find yourself counting down to your next holiday, stuck at your desk, endlessly scrolling through Pinterest and YouTube just dreaming about your next great escape? But imagine if you could design your life so you didn’t need a holiday just to survive the daily grind. Most corporate jobs demand constant busyness and sacrifice, swapping your precious time and energy for a brief sense of achievement. Before you know it, working harder and longer feels like the norm, and suddenly holidays are the only thing you look forward to after all that pressure. we are taught to just get through the routines that leave us knackered, believing that proper rest and happiness are things you only get on special occasions. Instead of wondering if things could be different, we just keep going powering through the fatigue, counting down the days until we can switch off, and then gearing up to do it all again.
Many of us tend to view holidays as a reward for enduring the relentless repetition of daily routines. The constant cycle of work can easily become overwhelming, leading to stress and burnout. I have certainly found myself in this position: feeling worn down by demanding jobs, trapped in an exhausted mindset, and struggling with the toll it takes on my wellbeing.
It was precisely this experience being so overwhelmed that I had forgotten how to truly enjoy life outside of simply switching off that inspired me to pursue self-employment as a Reiki Practitioner and abundant mindset coach. The pressure and fatigue made me realise that I needed more than just occasional escapes; I needed to rediscover genuine enjoyment in my everyday life. That’s why I designed a life that doesn’t need escape. It doesn’t mean I don’t take holidays it means I don’t use them as an excuse for survival
Freedom is not a destination
Sometimes my little pockets of freedom aren’t big, dramatic events they’re just simple moments I’ve slipped into my everyday routine that help me feel a bit more in control and at ease. It was about grabbing those small choices, like sneaking a few minutes of quiet before everyone else wakes up, enjoying that first sip of coffee, or wearing something that makes me feel good just because. Each one is a gentle reminder that, do you know what? I do matter, and all the time, not just every now and then. So when you keep weaving tiny wins into your day life, things start to slowly change; you will find that you don’t just get by, you actually start to feel better too, and the old feeling of being stuck starts to fade away because you’ve retrained your nervous system to associate daily life with safety, not threats.
You are not trapped. You do have a choice.
These small pockets of wins done on a daily basis (usually around 21 days), that’s how long it takes for the subconscious to form a new habit help massively to break the escape cycle, you eventually stop needing the holiday just to feel human and this is done by building evidence that a different life is possible, one small step at a time as the root of burnout is often caused by feeling you have no choices to take.
Eventually I found work that didn’t drain my soul, in Reiki and Abundant life coaching, it resonated with me, I now work for myself instead of making someone else rich setting my own hours and choosing the right people to work with. I shifted my mindset from scarcity to abundance, and from earning rest, to living rested. If I can do it anybody can, with a few simple daily steps telling yourself that you matter, and you are important. So start designing your life today create small steps and let yourself know that you don’t “need” a holiday to escape life, but it helps.
